We want you to know that as a family of friends following Jesus we welcome all children in the worship services. Children's MinistryDuring the Autumn and Winter quarters, our Children’s Sunday School will follow the theme of “The Days of the Kings and Prophets”, from the books of Second Samuel, First and Second Kings and First and Second Chronicles. Beginning with David taking kingship over Israel, we will follow the rise and fall of the royal line through the glory Solomon, the building of God’s temple, the division of the kingdom, the call for reform by Elijah and the prophets and the eventual exile to Babylon. This narrative will present a great opportunity to see what it’s like when people follow or turn away from God’s ways, summarized in Jesus’ great commandment to love God and love others in Matthew 22.37-40: ‘Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind.’ This is the first and greatest commandment. And the second is like it: ‘Love your neighbor as yourself.’ All the Law and the Prophets hang on these two commandments. At the end of the hour each week, our First through Sixth graders gather together for a worship time in which our children practice leading in prayer and singing a variety of hymns and worship songs related to the themes we are going through in the bible lessons in that season. We are also strongly encouraging scripture memory work, particularly for our grade-school age children. A list of the verses we are using this year can be found on the bottom of this page. Families should encourage children to practice memory work throughout the week, and during the Sunday School hour, awards and prizes will be given as the elements are completed. September 18th through December 18th, our Sunday School classes are taking place from 10:00 to 11:00am in the Children and Youth Ministries Building on the east side of our campus adjacent to Kalkar Drive (enter through the doors facing the entrance to the main sanctuary on the opposite end of the walkway). Childcare Information During our 11 am worship gatherings we have childcare provided for children five and under on the ground floor of the Children and Youth Ministries Building, on the east side of our campus adjacent to Kalkar Drive (use the doors facing the entrance to the main sanctuary on the opposite end of the walkway). For those children desiring to participate in the worship service, we have Children’s Expression tables set up in the sanctuary, where grade school age children can draw, sculpt and interact with craft projects related to our worship time. For nursing mothers and infants, there is also a cry room available in the worship center across the hall from the rear of the sanctuary. Children’s Memory Verses (we use the NIV translation)
